President Walter A. Groves

Danville, Kentucky

Dear President Groves:

We have one Negro member of the faculty, an instructor in sociology. Negro women are admitted on the same basis as women of other races. This has been the policy at Wellesley College for many decades. In the past two years, since I have been at Wellesley, the trustees have issued no statement of policy concerning such admissions, nor, so far as I know, have they ever had occasion to make such a policy statement.

Very sincerely yours.

Margaret Clapp
