ASBURY COLLEGE
Z. T. JOHNSON, Ph.D., LL.D., President

Office of the President Wilmore, Kentucky
June 3, 1954

President Walter A. Groves
Centre College
Danville, Kentucky

Dear President Groves:

Asbury College has made no plans to admit Negro students. I understand the Seminary has agreed to do so, but our Board of Trustees, thus far, has not acted upon it. In my judgment, it may be some time before the question will even be considered.

Congratulations on your good work there. We have just closed out one of the great commencements of our history with 175 graduates. One hundred fifteen of these graduates are entering definite Christian service, either in the ministry or mission field. We had a capacity crowd for commencement yesterday.

With best wishes for the summer, I am

Cordially yours,

Z.T. Johnson
